3G Video Chat for iPhone 4

iPhone Fring

Today Fring, an all-in-one chat client for the iPhone, announced an update to their app that integrates video chat with services like Skype and AIM, all over 3G networks. This marks the first non-Apple iPhone program that is capable of accessing both the front and back facing cameras for video conferencing.

FaceTime, one of the most popular features of the iPhone 4, is Apple’s own integrated video conferencing feature, but much to the dismay of many users, it is currently confined to only Wi-Fi connections. Fring, much to our surprise, managed to escape Apple’s stringent app approval process despite the fact that it clearly improves on a current limitation of the iPhone 4. Fring also allows users to connect to a number of different devices, including Android phones and more, which currently FaceTime is not capable of as well.
